Merry Christmas Convicts

Good reading on the subject of criminal justice can be found here. I have done some cursory reading and thinking on this subject, such as watching good documentaries like Murder on a Sunday Morning. I also have read several reports like this one. They all paint a very disturbing picture of American Justice. Couple this with torture allegations and a suspension of habeas corpus, and you have a scenario that is very much unlike the "Land of the Free". One identifes much more easily with Winston Smith than Thomas Jefferson. Have we have already made it past 1984?
