How to Spin a Disaster..as a Fiscally Responsible Republican

I stole this from a post on Daily Kos, but I couldn't help it... it's sarcastically great.

This excerpt is taken from this White House speech, where Bush tells us what a great job his team did in regulating government spending and balancing the budget:

The President: Our original projection for this year's budget deficit was $423 billion. That was a projection. That's what we thought was going to happen. That's what we sent up to the Congress, here's what we think. Today's report from OMB tells us that this year's deficit will actually come in at about $296 billion."

[Applause, confetti drop, marching band plays We're In The Money, old people throw away their walkers.]

We should also point out that it's still the 4th-largest deficit ever (the top 5 all happened on a Bush's watch).

Fiscal responsibility is no longer a Republican mantra, apparently. NRO fails to notice, and reverts to the "tax and spend" critique of DEMOCRATS. Lol...
