"Conservative" Fiscal Responsiblity

Straight from the Stupidity Department comes this quote by Patrick Ruffini:

Spending is a real problem, but to tie spending to tax cuts is nothing more than a liberal ploy to keep taxes high...

Uh...

Hey Patrick, let's try a little exercise. Let's say you have $1000 in bills to pay this month - quick now, how much money do you need to have? If you said $1000, you have at least the IQ of the generic household sponge. Now, if you are a government with the $1000 in bills, where do you suppose you would get the money to pay the bills? Taxes, that's right... we have now elevated to the intelligence of your average goldfish. How much money would you need to raise in taxes? What's that? $1000, you say? Wow, you really do have a dizzying intellect. Now here comes the hard part - what would you do if you only raised $500 in taxes? Perhaps, find a way to lower your bills to $500 as well? No, I guess Patrick sees no problem with raising $500 and spending $1000. How very Conservative of him...
