Jonah-Bashing

Anyone who has read here before knows that I'm not a big fan of Jonah Goldberg, but even I was a little surprised by this. Not that it isn't true, mind you, but just that seems so visceral.

So why do I love it so much?

I don't worry about the media landscape being conservative or liberal. I can stomach ideological biases, so long as pundits are entirely up front in their presentation. But I do worry, daily, about the all-enveloping stupidity of the modern pundit press, and the elevation of intellectual mediocrity to an art form.

There is some analysis in the post as well:

Political debate on the internet has emerged with a fury, these last few years, in large part because the larger media marketplace entirely abandoned the sphere of actual balanced political debate. Fact checking exists on the web because it has been all but stripped from political reporting.

So true - even if Jonah isn't really a serious part of it.
