Foreign Policy SNAFU

Current Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi met with Syrian President Bashar Assad Wednesday. Syria likes the gesture, but doubts the value of it. I don't recall the last time a Speaker of the House was engaged in foreign diplomatic relations - not that it's outside her rights, but it certainly is something less than customary. The White House agrees, of course. They also disagree with three Republican congressmen who also met recently with Assad in Syria. The Republican pundits are all over both groups. Unfortunately, our current executive branch is so inept that multiple members of Congress have seen fit to try to restore diplomatic relations themselves.

It seems that there is bi-partisan support for diplomacy in Syria. The current executive just wants to call them terrorists and blow them up.
