I Stand (Slightly) Corrected

In my post A renewed Debate, regarding Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's "confession", I wrote:

And now, we have a confession - made in a secret military tribunal with no non-military witnesses present.

It seems that this statement is not true. Reference this International Herald Tribune article, where Sen. Carl Levin gives his impressions of the tribunal after witnessing the proceedings on closed-circuit television. The public and press were barred from the proceedings, but apparently the 2 senators were able to watch from an adjoining room.

I still believe my projection that the confession will not change our national security situation, but I was inaccurate when I said that there were no non-military witnesses present.

As we learn, so must we grow - to do less is to creep inexorably into demagoguery.
