When I started my Blog, it was to be purely self-edifying. If other people read, that was fine, but if they did not, I didn't much care. I have gotten several comments regarding different posts I have made, however, so i have tried to address the comments; this has changed how I view this site. I now realize that Blogging in general has a unique advantage over most other forms of media: anyone can participate, and any idea can be posted.
Although I do not expect to change the world with my site, the power of the blogging community in general has grown greatly. I truly enjoyed reading the article Bloggers against Torture in The Nation today. It details the political effect of blogging in Egypt, a country known for its torture and abuse of the citizenry. If blogging can have an effect in Egypt (even if it is a relatively small one), it surely can affect the American consciousness as well. And State legislators want it stopped. |
