Truth and Consequences

In reading this article in The Atlantic, I came across Carl Cannon's question:

“Can presidents be truly effective without lying, or are there times when they simply must engage in deception? If so, when? And how is the public to know whether presidents are abusing that prerogative?”

If he had fully analyzed Plato in The Republic, he would have a better understanding of this curious notion. The Noble Lie, as Plato calls it, addresses this subject in detail.

More people should study their Greek Philosophy.
